Food Science College of Fujian Agriculture and ForestryUniversity, Fuzhou 350002, China )The purpose of this paper is to explore the function ofroyal jelly in lowering blood lipids. In this project, an animal model ofhyperlipidemia in rats was build up. We employ the TC, TG and HDL-C levels inserum, atherosclerosis index (AI), as well as body weight, liver weight, spleenweight and body weight ratio as the evaluation indices to measure thelipid-lowering effect of royal jelly. The results show that, three doses ofroyal jelly can significantly decrease the TC and TG levels, increase the HDL-Clevel in the serum of hyperlipidemia rats and inhibit the increase of AI. Theincreases of weight, liver weight, spleen weight and body weight ratio havealso been mitigated. Among the three doses, 1 g/kg performances the best.
