Yousaf (MY) and Samina Qamer (SA)**  Department of Zoology, Government College University,Faisalabad(QAZ,SA), Department of Plastic Surgery, Punjab Medical College,Faisalabad (ZMN),  Pathology Lab Alliedhospital, Faisalabad (TA,MY),Pakistan This study was conducted to evaluate the antimicrobialeffect of Apis mellifera fresh honey on organisms isolated from infected burnsin comparison to the antibiotics used in treatment of burn infection, and toevaluate the effects produced when bee honey is added to antibiotic discs. Thirty patients with burn infection (2-4 weeks old) wereselected for this study. The collected blood specimens from the burn woundswere cultured on different media such as CLED, Blood, SS and MacConkey agar andNutrient agar. Four major bacterial strains including E-coli, Klebsiella spp.Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were isolated and Antibioticsensitivity pattern was measured against these microorganisms by usingfollowing 3 antibiotics i.e, Amikacin (AK), Zinacef (CXM), Linozolid (LZD). The results show that honey has a significant effect on thegrowth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa (61%) followed by E.coli (55%), Staphylococcusaureus (56%), and Klebsiella spp (25%) as compared to the antibiotics alone.** corresponding author: Dr Samina Qamere-mail: saminabee@yahoo.com
